Appliances and finishing paint and cabinets: Phase Four of the Kitchen Project

So exciting this week! We finished painting the walls and cabinets. With appliances coming in over the weekend, the big parts of this kitchen project are coming to an end!

Last week we shared picking out the paint colors. See more about that here. You can see the bases of the cabinets painted there. I love the colors! One of my favorite things is looking through color pallets. It’s so hard to decide with all the great choices, but we selected three colors from Sherwin Williams. We finished painting the walls with Crushed Ice. This week Women at Work finished off the cabinets for us by bringing back the cupboard panels painted with Snowbound. The island was painted using Urbane Bronze. Women at Work installed the cupboards and made sure all the hardware was in top condition. Now we could really see the kitchen come to new life!

The other decision making came with picking out appliances. We ended up choosing Whirlpool appliances in stainless steel. The stove choice was a little difficult. At first we wanted gas. My husband does most of the cooking around here and I thought that’s what he preferred. When he told me he wouldn’t mind if I wanted an electric stovetop, I was about to change the order. I like the sleek appearance of the electric ranges and thought it would be easier to keep clean. However, our house is already set up for a gas stove and we didn’t want to prolong the time and cost of the project to have the proper electricity installed. So Saturday the gas stove came with the other appliances. I love it!

It took us the entire weekend for everything to be installed, cleaned up, and the fridge to be filled. It was a messy and tiring part of the project, but by Sunday evening our kitchen was fully functioning. We had our first meal using the stove and oven. I actually cooked this meal, not my husband and it was good! May be a new leaf turning, or just a honeymoon phase...time will tell!😆

I’m very happy with the entire kitchen and the people that helped us put it together. The last piece will be the backsplash. We picked out a white subway tile with gray grout. Unfortunately the finishing strip for the tile is on backorder so we have a slight delay in providing a true before and after picture. Stay tuned for that in the upcoming week or two hopefully!

It’s good to get the bulk of the project behind us since it’s coming up to Easter and spring.

Heartcrafted Home is gearing up for the season with so many new items. We’re busy taking special orders and creating items to display at our Spring Open House! Come by to see the new kitchen in person and say hello to us while you have fun shopping. We’re looking forward to this live event and the nicer weather! See you March 20th!!
