Kitchen Countertops: Phase Two of the Kitchen Project
It’s week two of our home kitchen project. Last week we shared our wallpaper removal. Here’s a quicktip page for Taking Down Wallpaper the Easy Way!
Here’s our bare wall after the removal. Our counters were an off-white formica. I convinced my husband to remove one cabinet to the left of the window. It looks odd now, but I have a vision for the end of the project look!
This week’s work was easy for us since we found a wonderful contractor to do the work for us! My teacher friend Bobbi hooked us up with her brother-in-law who is a great counter guy.
Anthony helped us select a quartz countertop that’s perfect for us.
It took us time to decide between granite or quartz and also between dark or light colors. Anthony was patient and listened to me describe two different looks I had in mind. He showed us slabs to match each of my visions. When we narrowed it down to two white quartz options, he sent us home with samples of each to see in our home and make our final decision. The Marmi we chose is white with gray veins.
Anthony and a coworker came to install the counters this week. They were careful in their work and cleanup. The counters went in beautifully in just a couple of hours. They also installed a new undermount sink. We went with one large sink without dividers.
And there they are! My husband installed a new faucet. We have running water and coffee! Now we’re on to the next phase of the project! I can’t wait to see the cupboards and backsplash transform this space! Stay tuned for phase 3 and 4 this coming week!!
